Chocobeer Party - POSTPONED (for now!)

Hello All,

I have some sad news (at least for those of you who expressed interested in the Chocobeer event) - the event, which I initially thought was going to happen on February 7th, has to be postponed!! Unfortunately the venue fell through at the last minute, but I am working with our Chocolate Expert, Dana Zemack, and sponsors, Merchant Du Vin and Cote Dor, to find a suitable venue in the very near future (right now our fingers are crossed for end of February/beginning of March).

I just wanted to keep you updated. I’ll post information on the site and relay it through email as details become finalized. Thanks for your patience!

The Beehive’s Big Easy!

Boston’s Beehive Celebrates 1st Annual Mardi Gras Celebration in Authentic New Orleans Style!

WHAT: Laissez les bons temps rouler!” is a Cajun expression meaning “Let the good times roll!” It strongly conveys the “joie de vivre” (”joy of living”) attitude that pervades the Beehive’s first annual Mardi Gras celebration being held on Fat Tuesday, February 5th, 2008. The South End hot spot has spared no expense in making this year’s festivities as authentic as possible. Party go’er’s can look forward to the groovin’ gumbo sounds of the Nat Simpkins/Henri Smith Band, that will be sure to have you singing and swinging all night long. Henri Smith moved to the Boston area shortly after being displaced by Hurricane Katrina, a portion of proceeds from the evening’s event will go to the Tipitina’s Foundation; a New Orleans based charity that provides support for displaced musicians to keep the Big Easy Swingin’. Further Indulge in Chef Rebecca Newell’s Cajun inspired Ala Carte menu featuring Oysters Rockefeller, Shrimp Etouffee Vol-Au-Vent, Jambalaya and finish your meal with the Beehive’s Epiphany King Cake, including your very own miniature baby decoration attached. The Beehive’s all-star mixologists will be serving up special Beehive Hurricane’s ($10), Spicy Oyster Shooters ($5), with vodka and Tabasco, and the Sazerac Cocktail ($10), made with Sazerac rye, Kübler Absinthe and Peychaud bitters. Kübler Superieure is a well-known brand of absinthe, distilled in the Val-de-Travers region of Switzerland, also known as the birthplace of absinthe. Attendees will be lavished with plenty of beads necklaces, masks, and the traditional Mardi Gras doubloons coins for throwing. There is no cover charge for this event. Regular menu served in addition to all special items.

Chocobeer Party

This February, with the help of chocolate expert Dana Zemack, I’m organizing a chocolate and beer tasting party. This was first announced at Blogtoberfest where you may have sampled some delicious chocolate. Well it’s going to be like that, only better. And with beer. Paired together. Really? What could be better than that? Prizes maybe, but don’t worry - we’ve got that covered.

Stay tuned for more details!

A Huge Thank You!

(For more blogging and pics of the event, check out my personal blog: AllEyesonJenny.com)

I want to thank all of you that came out last night. Despite the Red Sox game traffic. The long work week. Gearing up for PodCamp … The turnout was more than I could have asked for!

First and foremost I really need to, once again, thank all of the sponsors that helped me make this event what it was: Marc from Mb Graphics for all the signage, the people at LocaModa, Alyssa over at Big Red Podcast and the guys at Xcomnomy for helping me pay for the event, John Wall from The M Show and his partner in crime Christopher Penn at Marketing Over Coffee for the coffee gift certificates (I have them in hand and will be mailing them out today, Victoria and Ron!), Dan Germain (go buy his CD if you did not win one) at Dan Germain Music, Sarah Stewart and her Williams Sonoma fetish from I Cook Good, Amber Brown from Juxtaco Event Marketing for all her help setting up and for the Blick GC donation, Matt Hooker (even if I did call him an asshole last night) from HookerMedia for the gorgeous painting of the Old State House, Gary Hedrick from ElefhantWorks Design Studio for his lovely windmill painting, Viva Skin Care for donating the GC for the facial (although when I said “the winner of the facial is….” I felt a little dirty), and Chris Schepici and the people at ShoeBuy.com for that $100 GC that EVERYONE wanted. And oh yeah, my printer for printing up that Fenway photograph.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

And the winners of prizes in the drawing are as follows:

$25 Starbucks GC:
Ron from Universal Hub

$25 Dunkin Donuts GC:
Victoria from Vickie Victoria

Dan Germain’s Amid Summer’s Swing:
Andrea who you can find here;
Tom who you can find here; and
Mika (Ulli - get me the info you copied last night!)

Williams Sonoma GC:
Diana Lalama

$40 Blick GC:
Sean from Grin & Grumble

Fenway Print:
George Jenkins (what’s your link?!)

“Dreaming of Home” (Old State House Painting):
Jesse who you can find here

Windmill Painting:
Gil who you can find here

Viva Skin Care Facial:
Jason who you can find here (He is SO psyched on that facial too. Don’t deny it.)

$100 ShoeBuy GC:
Mysterious Brian

There you have it. Congrats everyone!!!

Before I forget this time, I tried to plug it as much as I could last night: I’m planning another event for February. A ChocoBeer Tasting Party!. With the help of chocolate expert Dana Zemack from The Tasty Show, me and the whole Boston Blog Events venture, we’re putting together a night of Belgian chocolate and Belgian beer and we’re going to find out just how fantastic they taste together.

If I didn’t force you to sign the mailing list for updates, and you’d like to find out more details as the party planning process progresses (what a great alliteration), please email me your … uh email address! I’ll put you on the list! )Just make sure you specify somewhere in the email or subject like to add you to the event updates list!) jenny@bostonblogevents.com.

(Thank you Dana for the ridiculously delicious chocolate that was scattered all over!)

Ok I just spilled my entire LARGE coffee (without having had any). It’s time to go to sleep for about 5 days straight now.

Thanks everyone!

Boston Bloggers Band to Meet Faces Behind the Words At Second Annual BLOGTOBEREST

BOSTON — October 9, 2007—The greater Boston area’s most prolific Bloggers will gather at Boston Blogtoberfest 2007, taking place Thursday, October 25.

This second annual event, which will run from 6-8 pm in the lower level of the Pour House, 907 Boylston Street, Boston. Boston Blogtoberfest 2007 is the creation of Boston Blogger - Jenny Frazier. The event is meant to provide a chance for fellow Boston bloggers to put down the mice, step away from the keyboard, and meet some of their favorite local bloggers in a casual, face-to-face setting.

Frazier started the event last year after randomly meeting a fellow Boston blogger, posting about the event and then receiving tremendous feedback from the Boston blog community that it would be great to have an organized event where bloggers could all meet and share experiences.

“It’s different than most of the social networking events in the area because it’s not set up to be about anything. Last year some people networked, some people were looking for jobs, and some people simply wanted to have a few cocktails and gossip! It’s great because people can make it about whatever they want,” says Frazier of the event.

The event, which will offer free attendance, is seeking sponsorship donations from fellow bloggers or local companies willing to provide added value to the Boston Blogtoberfest experience. Businesses or individuals who would like to make donations of either money, food or drink are asked to contact the event’s organizer, Jenny Frazier at jenny@bostonblogevents.com. Additional information, including lists of registered attendees and sponsors to date can be found at: http://bostonblogevents.com/blogtoberfest

For more about Jenny Frazier, a 26 year old Boston graphic artist/photographer/marketer and the event’s creator, visit her website at http://jennyfrazier.com.
