Hello All,

I have some sad news (at least for those of you who expressed interested in the Chocobeer event) – the event, which I initially thought was going to happen on February 7th, has to be postponed!! Unfortunately the venue fell through at the last minute, but I am working with our Chocolate Expert, Dana Zemack, and sponsors, Merchant Du Vin and Cote Dor, to find a suitable venue in the very near future (right now our fingers are crossed for end of February/beginning of March).

I just wanted to keep you updated. I’ll post information on the site and relay it through email as details become finalized. Thanks for your patience!

WHAT: Laissez les bons temps rouler!” is a Cajun expression meaning “Let the good times roll!” It strongly conveys the “joie de vivre” (”joy of living”) attitude that pervades the Beehive’s first annual Mardi Gras celebration being held on Fat Tuesday, February 5th, 2008. The South End hot spot has spared no expense in making this year’s festivities as authentic as possible. Party go’er’s can look forward to the groovin’ gumbo sounds of the Nat Simpkins/Henri Smith Band, that will be sure to have you singing and swinging all night long. Henri Smith moved to the Boston area shortly after being displaced by Hurricane Katrina, a portion of proceeds from the evening’s event will go to the Tipitina’s Foundation; a New Orleans based charity that provides support for displaced musicians to keep the Big Easy Swingin’. Further Indulge in Chef Rebecca Newell’s Cajun inspired Ala Carte menu featuring Oysters Rockefeller, Shrimp Etouffee Vol-Au-Vent, Jambalaya and finish your meal with the Beehive’s Epiphany King Cake, including your very own miniature baby decoration attached. The Beehive’s all-star mixologists will be serving up special Beehive Hurricane’s ($10), Spicy Oyster Shooters ($5), with vodka and Tabasco, and the Sazerac Cocktail ($10), made with Sazerac rye, Kübler Absinthe and Peychaud bitters. Kübler Superieure is a well-known brand of absinthe, distilled in the Val-de-Travers region of Switzerland, also known as the birthplace of absinthe. Attendees will be lavished with plenty of beads necklaces, masks, and the traditional Mardi Gras doubloons coins for throwing. There is no cover charge for this event. Regular menu served in addition to all special items.
